# Ghostedit in Claude, ChatGPT and Claude Code

**In short**

Ghostedit is a remote MCP server at `https://mcp.ghostedit.ai` (Streamable HTTP, OAuth 2.0). Add it to your AI app, sign in, pick which accounts it may use, then ask in plain words to post, schedule, check stats or set up Instagram comment-to-DM.

## Setup

First, sign up free at [ghostedit.ai](https://ghostedit.ai/connect) and connect your Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or other accounts. Then add Ghostedit to your AI app:

**Claude (web, desktop, mobile)**
Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector. Paste `https://mcp.ghostedit.ai`, click Add, then Connect. Sign in and press Allow. In a chat, turn Ghostedit on from the tools menu.

**ChatGPT**
Settings, then Connectors. Turn on Developer mode (paid plans), click Create and paste `https://mcp.ghostedit.ai`. Sign in and press Allow.

**Claude Code**
Run `claude mcp add --transport http ghostedit https://mcp.ghostedit.ai`, then type `/mcp`, pick ghostedit and choose Authenticate. A browser tab opens: press Allow.

**Other MCP apps**
Any app that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth works: use `https://mcp.ghostedit.ai`.

## Sign-in and permissions

**How sign-in works**
OAuth 2.0 with PKCE and dynamic client registration. Your AI app never gets your Ghostedit or social media passwords. Ghostedit signs in to each platform through the platform's own official login.

**What you allow**
Two permissions, shown on the Allow page: **read** (see your accounts, queued posts, post stats and automation stats, and check a post before it goes out) and **schedule** (schedule, plan, move and cancel posts, and set up and pause Instagram DM automations). You also tick which of your accounts this AI app may use. It can't see or post to the others.

**Approvals**
Set any account to "Approve AI posts" and everything an AI schedules there waits for your OK in Ghostedit. No tool can approve a post: only you can, in the app.

**Confirmations in Claude**
Tools that only read run without asking. Tools that post, move, cancel or change an automation are marked as changes, so Claude asks you before each one.

**Removing access**
In Ghostedit, open Settings, then Connections, and press Disconnect next to the AI app. Or remove Ghostedit from your AI app's connector settings.

## Tools

Reads only looks. Changes posts or changes something, so Claude asks first.

### Posting

**`list_accounts`Reads**
List the social accounts you connected, and whether posts to each need your OK.

**`check_post`Reads**
Check a video and caption against each platform's limits before scheduling. Nothing is posted.

**`schedule_post`Changes**
Schedule a post to one or more accounts at a time you pick, or right away. Can add a comment-to-DM to an Instagram post.

**`plan_week`Changes**
Spread several finished clips over the week at each account's best hours. The plan waits for your OK in Ghostedit.

**`list_posts`Reads**
List scheduled, held and recent posts.

**`get_post`Reads**
Show one post: status, time, caption and any error.

**`reschedule_post`Changes**
Move a post that hasn't gone out yet to a new time.

**`cancel_post`Changes**
Cancel a post that hasn't gone out yet.

### Analytics

**`get_post_stats`Reads**
Stats for one posted post: views, likes, comments, shares, saves, watch time and how it compares to your usual.

**`top_posts`Reads**
Your best posts over a period, by views or by how far they beat your usual.

**`compare_posts`Reads**
Compare two or more posts side by side.

**`account_trend`Reads**
How an account's views and followers moved over time.

**`account_growth`Reads**
Follower growth across all your accounts, with the fastest-growing one.

**`best_times`Reads**
When your posts do best, from your own numbers.

**`get_style`Reads**
What your best posts have in common, so captions can match your voice.

### Instagram DM automations

**`create_dm_automation`Changes**
When someone comments, DMs or replies to a story with a keyword, send them a message and an optional link.

**`update_dm_automation`Changes**
Change an automation's keyword, message or link.

**`list_dm_automations`Reads**
List your automations and whether each is live.

**`pause_dm_automation`Changes**
Pause an automation.

**`dm_automation_stats`Reads**
How many people triggered an automation, got the DM and clicked the link.

## Example prompts

- Post this video to Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts tomorrow at my best time.
- Check if this video will work on TikTok before I schedule it.
- What did best this week, and why?
- When should I post on Instagram?
- Anyone who comments GUIDE on my last reel gets this link by DM.
- Move Friday's post to Saturday at noon.

## Limits

**Plans**
Free covers 1 account per platform and 30 posts a month. Paid plans start at $19 a month. See [pricing](https://ghostedit.ai/pricing) .

**Platforms**
Instagram (business and creator accounts), TikTok, YouTube, Threads, LinkedIn (personal profiles), Bluesky and Mastodon. DM automations are Instagram only.

**Videos**
Your AI passes a public link to the video. Every post is checked against the platform's length, size, shape and caption limits first, and a post that would fail is not queued.

**Privacy defaults**
New TikTok and YouTube posts go out as private unless you ask for public, so nothing goes live by surprise.

## Troubleshooting

**Your AI says it can't post**
Ghostedit isn't on in this chat. Turn it on from the chat's tools menu.

**"Needs authentication" or "Connect" in your AI app**
Click it and press Allow again. Sign in with the same login you use on ghostedit.ai.

**A platform signed you out**
Instagram, TikTok and the others end app sessions now and then for security, like after a password change. Open Accounts in Ghostedit and press Reconnect.

**"Not queued, duplicate"**
That video was already sent to that account. Ask again and say you want it posted again.

**"Not queued, this post would fail"**
The check found a problem the platform would reject, like a video that's too long. The message says what to fix.

## Data and privacy

Ghostedit gets only the tool calls your AI app sends, never your chat. It stores your posts, schedules, stats and automations so it can post and report on them, and a count of which tools are used (never captions or messages in that log).
